How to Make Your Own Homemade Wasp/ Yellow Jacket Spray

It’s getting cooler, and so that means that all the little bugs will be trying harder than ever to get into your house…especially wasps and similar bugs! That means you’ll need wasp spray, but that can get expensive after a time. This is a chemical-free recipe on how to make your own wasp spray, that’s safe to use in your house!

YOU WILL NEED:

1 spray bottle

Liquid dishwasher soap, and/or laundry detergent (we use non-liquid kind)

Warm water

INSTRUCTIONS:

This is really super easy, and you can change and tweak this basic spray over time. But generally, here is what you do. You put your liquid soap and/or powdered laundry detergent, and combine in a bottle. (Detergent-to-water is about 1/3 detergent, 2/3 water. Just play around with it. Sometimes it takes more detergent if it is weak, and sometimes less if it is strong. Just play with what you have.) Then just add warm/hot water, and put on the cap. Shake it up, and let it sit for a few minutes. If you have to, you can use it right away, but it doesn’t spray as well when used right off.

It takes a few squirts, but it DOES WORK. This method is ideal for kitchens, because who wants lethal wasp spray in their food? This recipe will not work for outdoor nests, but works effectively for indoors. The same principal can be used for destroying ant beds. Warm soap and water do the trick, but keep the home toxic chemical-free, and saves a lot of money!
